Mr. Rajnikant Shroff is born in a family of entrepreneurs in a small village in Kutch, India, passionate about chemistry and chemicals right from the beginning, Mr. Rajnikant Shroff, the CMD of UPL, pioneered Red Phosphorus manufacturing in 1969, giving an impetus to the indigenous chemical industry.

A committed visionary

Eager to do something different, Mr. Rajju Shroff has always taken the road less traveled. A graduate of Chemistry from the Bombay University, he established a novel process of manufacturing mercury salts in a plant at U.K. and was paid royalty for it by the British Company; a big achievement for any Indian way back in 1957. Soon after, he mastered red phosphorous and quickly moved on to the production of other chemicals like Aluminium Phosphide (fumigant) and Zinc Phosphide (rodenticide) for agriculture. In 1980s, UPL started launching an avalanche of crop protection products and is one of the leading total crop solutions providers in the world now.

Even today at the age of 82, Mr. Shroff’s vision and commitment to ensure food security for all has him at work 10 hours a day

Mrs. Sandra Shroff, is the Vice Chairman of UPL. She is also at the helm of Enviro Technology Limited and Bharuch Enviro Infrastructure Limited as Director.

Apart from the growth of her company which is her top priority, she has been closely associated with ICMA (now known as ICC), FICCI, Assochem and CHEMEXCIL. Instrumental in resolving the problems faced by the chemical industry throughout India, over the last three decades she has been a major contributor to the rapid industrial growth at Ankleshwar and Vapi.

Driving social welfare with gusto

Mrs. Shroff’s social contribution is at par with her contribution to the growth of the Indian Chemical industry. Actively promoting social infrastructure such as hospitals and schools, she is renowned for the establishment of institutions that are ranked among the best in South Gujarat. As a Trustee of the GnyanDham Vapi Charitable Trust, the Ankleshwar Industrial Development Society, Sandraben Nursing College and the Ankleshwar Rotary Educational Society, she spearheads their various social upliftment projects.

Mrs. Shroff’s sensitive mind and emphatic attitude towards life are also evident from the fact that she has adopted the Model Eklavya Residential School at Ahwa, which is a school for tribal children in the Dang district. She is also involved in umpteen social and welfare activities such as building of village schools, providing tube-wells to villages and helping the tribal farmers with better methods of farming and agriculture.

She is also the President of the Burns Association of India and has the honour of being a member of the National Integration Council which is attended by the Prime Minister and chaired by the Home Minister.

Mrs. Shroff has spent more than five decades in India and is well conversant in Hindi, Gujarati and Kutchi languages.

Rajendra Darak has been with UPL since the year 1997 and is currently working as the Group CFO. He has been instrumental in proving leadership and guidance to multiple functions within UPL from mergers and acquisitions to strategic developments into new businesses, corporate finance, resources mobilization, both on-shore and off-shore. Rajendra is part of the corporate leadership team which looks after all the Group's growth initiatives.

Rajendra Darak has been with UPL since the year 1997 and is currently working as the Group CFO. He has been instrumental in proving leadership and guidance to multiple functions within UPL from mergers and acquisitions to strategic developments into new businesses, corporate finance, resources mobilization, both on-shore and off-shore. Rajendra is part of the corporate leadership team which looks after all the Group's growth initiatives.

Diego Lopez Casanello serves as CEO of Arysta LifeScience since February 2016. In his tenure as leader of Arysta, Diego completed the integration of Chemtura Agrosolutions, the Agriphar Group and Arysta LifeScience and implemented a strategy that focused the business on high growth specialty segments. Prior to joining Arysta, Diego spent over 25 years with global diversified chemicals manufacturer BASF, running businesses in four continents, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and head of the Agricultural Products Division, Asia Pacific.

Ajit Premnath has been with UPL since 2003 and lead the LATAM business for UPL for 8 years after which he moved to Europe as Region head for Europe where he lead the business for 5 years. In the year 2015, Ajit moved back to the Global HQ as the Global Marketing Director for UPL Crop protection business. He established a strong global portfolio management function and set the direction for the marketing team at UPL before taking up his current assignment as COO & Global Business Head of UPL Crop Protection Business.

Prior to working with UPL, Ajit has worked with Bayer, Aventis and Hoechst in different sales and marketing roles within India.

Carlos Pellicer became a part of UPL as the Business leader for Brazil in 2011 through the integration of DVA in Brazil. He is a strategic leader in the Crop Protection industry and is known for his credible track record in building teams and businesses through innovative business interventions in the market. Carlos moved into the role of COO- Global Strategy, Innovation and NPD in 2017. In the last year, he has been focused on a global project for defining the long term strategy roadmap for the Crop protection business along with managing the business responsibilities for DECCO and UPDT businesses globally. In addition to this, since July 2018 Carlos is the Integration Leader for managing the integration process between UPL & Arysta.

Prior to UPL, Carlos has worked in management roles for multiple organizations which include Stauffer, DuPont, Citibank, FMC, Monsanto. In the year 2004, he founded DVA Brasil a joint Venture with DVA GMBH in Brazil. Interestingly, Carlos has also been a Professor of Strategic Planning at FGV in Brazil.

K.R. Srivastava (KRS) joined UPL in 1999. He has held senior leadership positions in the UPL Crop Protection business. KRS played an instrumental role in the scale up of our manufacturing footprint, Operational excellence through projects in his role as the leader for the Global Supply Chain & Manufacturing organization, In 2016, KRS took up the opportunity to develop the Specialty Chemicals business at a global level as the CEO- Specialty Chemicals for UPL.

Prior to working with UPL, KRS has held leadership positions in Business Management, Supply Chain and Manufacturing areas for companies like The Pharmaceutical Products of India Ltd., Goodlass Nerolac Paints and Core Healthcare Limited.

Bhupen has played a key role in managing and integrating companies within the UPL group such as Advanta/ UPL, Golden Seeds and Unicorn. He has been driving essential integrations to bring profitable and sustainable growth for the UPL business.

Bhupen has over 30 years of experience in agriculture and food production industry. Prior to UPL, he has worked for different multi-national Agri-input companies including Hoechst, OptimAgro and Bayer where he gained the business expertise and market knowledge.

Paresh Talati joined UPL in 1994. He currently heads Global Research and development at UPL. He has been instrumental in creating a strong business focused R&D organization that has contributed immensely towards UPL's growth objectives.

Paresh has over 37 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and agri-inputs industry. Prior to joining UPL, he has worked at Rallis, BDH and FDC in India.

Raj Tiwari has been with UPL since 2011. He started in the role of Global leader for Manufacturing Projects & Lead for Indirect Procurement. Raj has been a part of the Global Supply Chain & Manufacturing leadership team at UPL. He has been known for successfully leading large turnkey projects that enabled UPL for meeting its growth objectives. Raj managed the role of Head- Technical Manufacturing for India for an year before being elevated to the role the Director of Global Supply Chain & Manufacturing of UPL Crop Protection Business in 2017.

Prior to UPL, Raj has handled leadership roles in Supply Chain and Manufacturing operations with companies like RPG Enterprises (CEAT Tyres) and Ambuja Cements.

Sanjay Singh joined UPL as the Global Chief Human Resource Officer in September, 2018. Sanjay began his career in Civil Services of India, where he served the Indian Railways for 10 years. His foray into the private sector took him to Dr. Reddy's where he handled multiple global assignments in Russia & Europe, post that he moved to Tata Motors as Head of HR for the commercial vehicle division including international operations. In his last assignment with Crompton Greaves he was designated as Executive VP & Global Head - Human Resources and was a member of the Executive Committee.

Anand Vora joined UPL as Global Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in August 2013. He joined UPL from Bunge India where he worked in senior finance roles both within India and internationally. He brings in more than 31 years of post qualification experience.

Previously, Anand has held several leadership positions in finance with companies such as Dow Chemicals, Ranbaxy and Piramal Group.

Rohit brings over 16 years experience dealing with mergers, acquisitions and other corporate law issues. Prior to UPL, Rohit has worked as a Commercial lawyer for Herbert Smith Freehills in Melbourne, Australia and J. Sagar Associates in New Delhi, India.

Rohit Kumar joined UPL in 2010. He is the General Counsel of UPL where he leads a team of close to 20 in-house lawyers overseeing all aspects of legal work relating to the company.

Rohit brings over 16 years experience dealing with mergers, acquisitions and other corporate law issues. Prior to UPL, Rohit has worked as a Commercial lawyer for Herbert Smith Freehills in Melbourne, Australia and J. Sagar Associates in New Delhi, India.

Farokh N. Hilloo

Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)

Farokh Hilloo joined UPL in July, 1991. He has a work experience of 33 years. Farokh commenced his career with a Pharmaceutical company- Themis Chemicals where he worked for 7 years. He is with UPL for the last 26 years. His last assignment was Vice President - International Business and was in charge of Rest of The World which constituted about 17% of the company's total turnover.

Since 2010, Farokh is the Global Sales Director and is responsible for sales and profitability. He also plays an active role in marketing, regulatory affairs, new product development and strategic sourcing.

Farokh Hilloo joined UPL in July, 1991. He has a work experience of 33 years. Farokh commenced his career with a Pharmaceutical company- Themis Chemicals where he worked for 7 years. He is with UPL for the last 26 years. Previously, Paula had a career in the specialty chemicals sector spanning 21 years in Momentive and its predecessor companies—including Union Carbide, OSI Specialties Corporation and GE Silicones. In Momentive and predecessor companies, she filled a range of senior roles of increasing responsibility in operations, business management and marketing, from Plant Manager, Brazil, to Latin America Sales and Marketing Director, Specialty Fluids, to her last position as Global Marketing Director, Silicone Fluids. Originally from Brazil, Paula has lived in multiple world regions, is fluent in four languages.

Rico Toft Christensen is the Regional Business head for North America, Australia & New Zealand for Arysta Lifescience. Rico joined Arysta in September 2015 with nearly 20 years of experience in agro solutions. He started his career with Cheminova as a management trainee soon after graduating from business school in Denmark. While at Cheminova, he assumed roles of increasing responsibility serving both abroad and locally. He was moved to Brazil in 2002, and served as the president of Cheminova Brazil from 2004 to 2007. From early 2008 to 2010, he moved back to Denmark to lead the global marketing function, and in 2011 he moved to the US to lead Cheminova's North American business.

Fabio Torretta is the Regional Business Head for Latin America business for Arysta LifeScience. He has lead Arysta's business in Southern Africa before moving into LATAM in 2015.

Fabio brings more than 35 years of experience in Agri-inputs industry including Crop Protection, Animal Nutrition and Fertilizer. Fabio has achieved superior results in multiple markets by building high performance teams and flawless execution of the Strategy plan. Prior to working with Arysta, Fabio has managed leadership roles in Sales and Marketing with companies in Agri-inputs industry like Socil Evialis Animal Nutrition and Fersol Ind. E Comercio S/A.

Vicente Gongora joined UPL in 2011 and came through the integration of DVA in Brazil. He currently leads the business for UPI in North America as the Vice President & Business Head. He has been focused on developing strategic plans to advance the company's Corporate Identity in the US market and drive profitable growth.

Prior to this, he was in a Marketing, R&D and Regulatory leader role for UPL, Brazil. He has solid experience in developing new concepts and campaigns on the portfolio front, coupled with strong technical expertise and solid team work ability.

Vicente has an experience of over 35 years in handling businesses in the Agrochemical industry. He has worked in critical roles for FMC in Brazil and South America & Cyanamid in Brazil and Paraguay.

In the past, he has had leadership roles in Syngenta & Hoya Vision Care Europe. He is a strong leader with exceptional coaching, interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.

Sameer Tandon joined UPL in 2016 as the Regional Director, India. He leads UPL's business teams for Crop Protection, AFS ( Adarsh Farm Services ) in India.

Sameer brings with him an experience of over 26 years in handling a wide variety of businesses with both B2B & B2C business models. He has worked in leadership positions for diverse industries including FMCG, Automotive, Consumer Durables and Agri-inputs handling strategic functions along with P&L responsibilities.

Prior to joining UPL, Sameer has worked with organizations such as Castrol, Monsanto India Ltd, Escorts Agri-Machinery etc.

Hisaya Kobayashi is the Regional Business Head of Asia for Arysta LifeScience. He has been with Arysta LifeScience and one of Arysta's predecessor companies, Tomen Corporation, since 1991.

Kobayashi's international career began in corporate planning and sales to Latin America and Southeast Asia for Tomen Corporation, Tokyo. With Arysta LifeScience, he then served as marketing and supply chain director in Brazil and head of supply chain for Europe Africa Middle East. Prior to his current position in Japan and Asia, he was based in Pau, France, where he served as regional director for Central and Eastern Europe. Through these experiences, he gains high credibility from business partners including J-Makers.
